Halloween 5: By: Matt Rusell
Drunk with the great success of HALLOWEEN 4: THE RETURN OF MICHAEL MYERS, Moustapha Akkad began prepping HALLOWEEN 5 right away!

This film suffers the same fate that A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 5 suffered, both in the same year. They both had a very successful part 4, and the next  installment is rushed to be released the next year, not giving the film makers enough time to put together a decent follow up. The thing this film suffers from the
most is a rushed script! The film mostly consists of Michael chasing after pointless unimportant characters, instead of just storming into the Children's Clinic for Jamie. I can see why he'd go after Rachel in their house, but why would he go after her friends? Another bad part of the film is the fact that the Man in Black is
introduced to the series and yet you're never told who the hell he is! It seems as if he's just there for the ending of the film! That's something we call: Poor character development. However, we do get some bright sides to the film, such as the pretty cool laundry chute sequence, and the reunion of Danielle Harris, Ellie Cornell, and Donald Pleasence! But still, even their great acting can't make up for the rest of the film's mistakes.

The acting is mixed. Donald Pleasence (Loomis) is of course great as he always is! Danielle Harris (Jamie) once again pulls off being the little girl in terror perfectly! Ellie Cornell (Rachel) does great for the short time that she's there. Wendy Kaplan (Tina) succeeds in being the most annoying person in the Halloween series along with Matthew Walker (Spitz) and Jonathan Chapin (Mike). Donald L. Shanks (Michael Myers) does fine as The Shape, but he almost seems bored with the part, and that piece of shit mask doesn't help him much!
The soundtrack has a nice little creepy tune over the opening credits and the Halloween theme always helps, but not enough in this case. Dominique Othenin-Girard does a very poor job directing a horror film and ends up making the film look like a boring French soap opera!

In this film, we get Danielle Harris and Donald Pleasence back but even they can't save this puppy! The kills are boring, the direction almost fails, Michael's mask sucks, and the story blows! Definitely the worst film of the series that features the Michael Myers storyline!
