Last Night Of The World

The dance begins with a formation of three lines - each girl with a symmetrical pose to the girl opposite. Lori McLinden and Danielle Zink are ready to perform and almost-vertical arabesque to begin the dance. After displaying what could only be described as 'slow modern moves', the formation changes to the opposite of what it originally was - instead of lines formaing a wide triangle going backwards, it now comes forwards. Here, they display a cannon movement, going down to the floor and emerging again.

From there, the dance turns to a circle - Lori, Danielle and Nicole James share the centre in a small triangle, performing their ability for flat right-legged splits and high back-mounts. Once the circle had finished a full rotation, the girls run forward and glide backwards. Then, separating from the centre circle in a cannon-sort of way, they turn back to the front. Then they split into three groups (one group leaps to the left, another spins to the right, the other making it's way to the centre of the stage) before running to a condensed triangle - Lori in the lead. Then, after Lori begins the steps with a slight bend-back, the girls join in two-at-a-time to the steps that follow.

Following Lori, Danielle and Rebekah Foster spin after her, as Emma Karvinen and Emily Harris join on for the finishing pose. Then I and Deanne Walker join on for the following step, finishing with Nicole and Kyla Johnson joining us. Then, after 3 bars of 4 with everyone joined in, the girls al run to the back of the stage, forming a straight line.

With Lori in the lead, forming a diagonal across the stage, the line begins to follow on. Lori begins with a side leap, then Danielle joins on with a stretch, followed by Rebekah with a leap. She is followed by: Emily; Emma; Kyla; Deanne; Me; and Nicole to finish. Once the line has completed two steps together, they run back to the triangle for the last step, before ending with their finishing pose.

Apart from the music giving me bad memories of my previous dance school, this dance has grown on me. At first I thought the choreography was a bit dodgy, (and parts still are) but the effects of formation and cannoning have really gotten me into this particular dance. The costume (a Chinesy-sort of dress of bright blue material with gold decorations) partly put me off, but the choreography and dance itself should have quite a bit of potential.
