| I Wanna Be With U Strategically placed in four lines spread over the stage, the girls start this routine each in a different pose. As the music starts, it is Lori McLinden who takes the first steps (centre front) performing two one-legged wings on her right foot. I pick up straight after with two ripples, soon followed by Kyla Johnson. Follwing on the next steps joins on in this order: Danielle Zink; Rebekah Foster; Emily Harris; Deanne Walker; Emma Karvinen; Nicole James; and Kelly Crossman. Once Kelly has joined on, the girls run to form a small triangle, Lori taking the lead. Leaning on each other for the effect, the girls 'bop' for a bit, before taking four steps forward, and plunging into the routine. With a good deal of the routine displayed in that cluster, the girls spread out to form three groups for the following steps - involving the centre group doing a totally different step to the outside clusters. From there, the girls move into two circles - Kyla, Danielle, Lori and Emily occupying the centre, with the rest on the outer circle. From here, they begin to move in opposite directions for 4 bars of 8, before moving to their next formation - four enclosed lines. Here, they strike their beginning poses again, as the back line moves forward, collectiong the 3rd line, and they follow through collecting the 2nd and 1st lines - ending with a straight line at the front of the stage. Here, the girls stamp out a chorus following in from either side of the line completing three different poses, and ending in the same one on the count of '16'. The stamping begins agan - all in time with each other and the music - before each of their poses is used once again in time with a slur to the music. Then the line splits from the centre, and the two lines formed trace around the outside of the stage, crossing over at the back, and forming a 'V' as they come downstage. Then without hesitation, the 'V' moves in to form one striaght line down the centre of the stage. From here, they immediately branch out into two lines (if a girl came from one direction, they go the other), then half the girls stop as the others continue outward, making four lines altogether. Then the lines go in opposite directions (upstage and downstage) doing a sort of spinning step, before returing to the four lines, then continuing in the opposite direction. From there, they make their way back to the beginning triangle, kneel to the floor, and crawl to their finishing position. I think this dance has some great potential. The majority of choreography is great and really goes with the music. Practise sessions aren't as tiring as the modern troupe, but the girls still put alot of effort into this dance. |
