"Shortcut to Candy"
[Cut back to Danny and Amber. Dan is walking along a path. He looks around]
Danny:
Amber? Amber! AMBER! [Amber comes into sight. Danny sighs in relief]
I thought I lost you.
Amber:
What are you talking about?
Danny:
It's just something Mummy said.
Amber:
What did she say?
Danny:
"Don't you lose her, Daniel Avery." And I don't mean to.
Amber:
Danny we're still in Crunksville. What could possibly happen?
[Amber is suddenly tackled by Warren. Danny is knocked to the ground by Jordan]
Warren:
Amber! Jordan – it's Amber Greenleaf!
Jordan:
Hello, Amber!
Danny:
[pulls Warren off of Amber] G'off her! Come on, Amber. [helps her up]
Amber:
What's the meaning of this?
Jordan:
Hold these. [puts an armful of cookies into Danny's arms]
Danny:
You've been into Taren's secret cookie stash!!
Taren (off-screen):
Oy you little brats give me back my cookies! You know what's gonna happen when I catch up with you?
[The others run]
Danny:
[stands with Taren's cookies in his arms] …oh. [drops cookies and follows the others over the fence]
Jordan:
I don't know why he's so upset. It's only a couple of cookies!
Warren:
And those chocolate bars. And the three pints of ice cream we lifted last week, and the bag of Wonka candy the week before!
Jordan:
Yes Warren! My point is, he's clearly overreacting! Run!
[They all run but soon come to the edge of a steep slope. They all manage to stop and keep their balance, except for Danny, who slams into Amber and sends them all tumbling down the hill]
Jordan:
Ohhh… I think I've broken something. [pulls out a candy bar broken in half and whimpers]
Danny:
Trust an Avery and a Red.
Jordan:
…Danny, you're an Avery. Anyway, it was just a detour. A shortcut.
Danny:
A shortcut to what?
Warren:
MORE CANDY!!
[Danny and Jordan rush towards the candy, followed by Warren. Amber stands and looks down the road]
Warren:
Nerds!
Danny:
Hey! I am no nerd!
Warren:
I meant the candy, you goof.
Danny:
Oh.
Amber:
I think we should get off the road.
[Insert the faint sound of "Fat Lip". Leaves rustle on the ground]
Amber:
Get off the road! Quick!
[The kids hurry off the road and duck behind a large rock. Jordan and Warren fight over the bag of candy as the song grows louder]
Danny:
[whispers] Quiet!
[Jordan and Warren stop. Amber peeks over the rock and sees Bizzy D, who leaps out of his car and puts a gloved hand on the top of the rock as he looks around through narrowed eyes. Ants crawl up and down the boulder. Amber enters a trance, tempted to open up the umbrella and vanish. Her hand grips the handle of the Umbrella and prepares to open it. Danny spots this and fwaps her gently, but enough to startle her out of the trance. She lets go. Jordan throws the bag of candy into the distance to distract Bizzy D, who whirls around and follows the sound. The kids run for a short distance and then stop, catching their breath]
Jordan:
What was that?
[Amber stares at the Umbrella but says nothing]

[The kids are shown running through the woods in the dark. At least one bandmember is nearby]
Jordan:
Anything?
Amber:
Nothing.
Warren:
What is going on?
Jordan:
That Bizzy D was looking for someone… or something. [looks at Amber] Amber?
[Amber turns to look at Jordan]
Warren:
Get down!
[Kids get down, and the bandmember feigns leaving the area]
Amber:
I have to leave Crunksville. Danny and I must get to Pleasantville.
Jordan:
Right… Crunksville ferry. Follow me.
[The kids make their way to Crunksville Ferry. Mark Hoppus suddenly appears along their path. Amber is delayed as the others run on. They jump over the fence and run towards the river. Mark follows the chase, hot on Amber's heels]
Warren:
Run! This way! Follow me! Run!
Jordan:
Get the rope Danny!
[Jordan and Danny each uncoil an anchoring rope while Warren starts to push the boat off]
Danny:
Amber! Run Amber!
Amber:
Go!
Warren:
Hurry!
Danny:
Amber!
Warren:
Jump Amber! Go on faster! Jump!
[Amber leaps onto the raft. Mark stops short of the water. Looking back the kids see him ride away, followed by Tom and Travis]
Amber:
How far to the nearest crossing?
Jordan:
20 miles.
