Misty and Amber are walking through the building.

MISTY
Yeah, well, your home VCRS will

give you a tracking window but

they won’t let you stretch it. There’s

no point, really, unless you’re talking

restoration. Archives will come in here

with these crummy old tapes sometimes,

tracks totally shot – servos can’t line ‘em

up. But the big box here’s a warhorse.

Totally analog. She’ll read to the very edge

of your tape. Just don’t force her or she’ll

get pissy with you.

Reaches the machine, begins pressing a few buttons

MISTY
Your tracking, your monitor, your printer

if you need it. So uh… what are we watchin’,

home movies or something?

AMBER
I’d really rather watch it alone.

Really.

MISTY
…

[shrugs]

Whatever.

[leaves]

A picture of the man combing his hair is printing.

As the scene switches to the beach, Amber begins turning the stretchy-dial.

AMBER
Come on… come on…

She turns the dial as far as it can go, all the way to 500. The alignment stretches, revealing a small island. Slowly a lighthouse takes shape on said island.

AMBER
Lighthouse.

She hits the print button and the machine shuts off.

AMBER
Nuts!

[hits the ‘page’ button, grabs microphone]

Hello? Somebody?

Amber sighs and presses a few buttons. The machine whirrs to life and begins fast-forwarding through the tape

AMBER

Damn.

Amber presses the play button. It stops on the windy-cliff-with-fly scene. She slowly rewinds it until she gets where she wants and presses pause, still on the same scene. The picture freezes, but the fly’s wings are still twitching. Amber slowly reaches forward and pulls a live fly off of the screen by its wings. Blood trickles out of her nose.

MISTY
[pokes her head in]

[Amber looks at her]

uh… hey, you got a… uh…

[gestures to nose]

Amber wipes the blood from her nose with her finger and looks at it. She quickly tears the pictures of the man and the lighthouse out of the printer and leaves
