SCENE: MENTAL HOSPITAL

A nurse is pushing a cloth screen on wheels along. Jade walks on the other side of it.

Saturday

Day 3

As the nurse passes a room filled with older people, Jade stops. Nurse doesn’t see and keeps going. Jade looks at the old folks through her wild hair.

NURSE
Jade?

[stops]

Jade.

[pushes the screen back in front of Jade]

We’re almost there.

SCENE: VISITING-ROOM-THINGY?

(yes, I am stupid)

Jade sits at a table. Amber sits on the other side, looking at her.

AMBER
Do you remember anything about

that night? That night with Hunter?

[leans forward]

Do you remember… how he died?

Jade makes no answer, only stares blankly at her.

AMBER
Jade?

[sighs, leans back, chewing on a corner of her lip]

He told you about a videotape, didn’t

he?

[leans forward again]

He was afraid, wasn’t he? Something

was happening to him. Jade… how

did he die? Please.

[reaches forward, takes her hand]

I need to know.

JADE
And you will.

He’ll show you.

AMBER
Who? Who will show me?

JADE
Not now.

[turns Amber’s hand over. Puts down one of Amber’s fingers so that only four remain up on that hand]

Four days.
