END FLASHBACK; FADE INTO Moog asleep on a street-bench. Two girlyfeet walk up; one nudges him in the side. Moog smiles, knowing who it is without even opening his eyes
MOOGLE
Hi.
GEORGIA
You say that like you know it's me.
He
opens his eyes and puts a hand over them, shielding them from the sun. He grins
wider
MOOGLE
It is you.
Georgia smiles at him and pulls him onto his feet, then hugs him. Moog kisses her forehead and they walk off, arms slung over each other's shoulders.
CUT
TO: Moog and Georgia in their car. Georgia is driving down the street towards
Jess's house
MOOGLE
Maybe it's good that there's a lot of
people here.
GEORGIA
Stick with me, pal, she's putty in my hands.
MOOGLE
Just watch your driving.
CUT TO: Their car pulling up and parking in the field near Jess's house, where a million other cars already sit. Legs and Crunk walk over to them; Moog gets up and shakes Legs' hand. Crunk hugs him, regardless of whether that was his intent or not.
CRUNK
Moogle Brofloski! Free at last!
MOOGLE
Thank God almighty.
(grins)
Meet Georgia.
Georgia gets out of the car and shakes hands. We CUT TO Jess and Tim, sitting on the porch swing together. Georgia and Moog walk over, hand in hand.
MOOGLE
You know Georgia.
JESS
Hi Georgia.
Both
of them sound nervous; Tim gets up
TIM
Come on, Miss, come with me. We'll meet
the rest of the crazies.
Moog hugs him as he passes; Tim heads inside the house and Georgia follows, leaving Moog and Jess alone. Moog takes a deep breath and sits down next to Jess. They sit awkwardly for a few minutes, before Moog finally speaks, quietly
MOOGLE
Mom, that reporter –
JESS
Nope.
(puts her hand on his to
stop him)
Truth hurts, kiddo. That's all. I'm sure I
had it coming.
mom, i –
JESS
Baby, there are some things for which…
I don't expect to be forgiven. Not by my
children. Not even by Eru.
There are some
things for which it'd be
ludicrous to say
I'm sorry. It'd be so… so
pale.
MOOGLE
I guess I owe you an apology –
JESS
No, no, no you don't. Don't say it. I've been
thinking about what I would
say to you, should
we ever speak again.
(Moog chuckles quietly)
I went through all the of
mean things I could think
of to make you feel guilty.
You know how I am. I take
a problem and chew on it
until all the flavour's gone,
and then I stick it in my
hair.
And then it dawned on me.
All those years that I
wished, that I begged on my
hands and knees, for someone
to make me more. Give
me more. Make me better,
make me stronger. Make me
saner. Make all my dreams
come true. I finally got an
answer.
MOOGLE
(looks at her)
What?
JESS
(cups his chin)
You.
(smiles at him)
Right there in one person, all I'd ever wanted to be
or do. And there you are.
You came right through me
and I never even realized. I
hate it when it's right in
front of your face and you
miss it, don't you?
Moog
nods wordlessly and hugs her. They pull away and Jess looks at him
JESS
Now you goddamn marry that girl.
MOOGLE
I will.
JESS
I know I've got the "worst mother in the world" prize
sewed up and in the bag, but
I'd still like to be there.
MOOGLE
Maybe we could have it here.
JESS
No. That'd just be …
convenient. I could walk to
it.
MOOGLE
(laughs)
You could.
JESS
Now there's just one more thing I want to ask you. Then
I want you to go dance 'till
your socks melt.
MOOGLE
Okay.
JESS
But I want you to be totally honest.
MOOGLE
Are you sure?
JESS
Yes.
MOOGLE
Okay.
(takes a deep breath,
looks at him seriously)
Do I look like I've gained weight?
A beat.
… no, actually, I think you
may be too thin.
God love you, darlin'.
(stands up)
Okay, now you can go have some fun.
MOOGLE
(gets to his feet)
Okay.
They hug, again.
CUT
TO: Later that evening; they've got a big almost parade-like group wandering
around the yard, waving flags, sparklers, scarves, whatever they can find. The
Undahpants dance around at the head of the parade with Jess, and lead her over
to a table in the middle of the field, with a cake on it. Sabrina uses
sparklers to light all the candles on it, setting it almost completely aflame.
Then Sangy hands Jess a fire extinguisher and grins.
MISTY
Make a wish, pal!
Jess
snickers and douses the cake with the extinguisher, laughing. The crowd cheers.
