Situational Leadership
part 1 of 2

Hershey Blanchard theory is a situational leadership theory. It combines leadership behavior with follower behavior.  It is also referred to as Situation Leadership Theory.

First we start of with a two dimensional chart again, which characterizes leadership into four different styles:

S1: Telling
S2: Selling
S3: Participating
S4: Delegating

Then Hersey-Blanchard adds a second dimension by adding the follower behavior to it. These categories are:

R1: unable and unwilling
R2: able but unwilling
R3: unable but willing
R4: able and willing
