Trunk Floor Replacement
The replacement rear tub that I have is in decent condition, but does require some work. Most pressing was the need to replace the boot (trunk) floor. There were some serious holes along the edges and almost all the floor was covered in heavy pitting and surface rust.

Luckily, from the original body that came with the car, I was able to salvage the trunk floor. Mostly everything else on that car was rusted out except for the trunk floor. I can't quite figure that one out, but luckily it made for a convenient patch panel.
The old rusty floor has been cut out at this piont. The spot welds along the rear flange were also drilled out. Cutting this out was the easy part...the hard part was yet to come.
The replacement piece ready to go in. About 4 inches had to be added along the bottom. The flange where the spot welds were was rusted too bady to use. Some support backets for the butt weld can bee seen along the bottom.
The hard part...fitting everything up. This took many, many hours of cutting and fitting and it still doesn't fit all that good. Oh well, this definitely was a challenge.
New trunk floor in place, about 50% of the welding done, nothing ground down yet. This was some challenging welding as the panel fit was less than perfect. Along the bottom below the differential hump was a challenge as I left a gap if about 1/8 of an inch. After a long time, I managed to fill it. Not the recommended way to do things but its done.
