The following poem was written by my dear friend Randall Beers
and is included with his permission.
Randall is a policeman of twenty one years experience, wrote this poem
because so often he sees only the bad in this world. It has shaken his
faith in GOD and he has felt drawn into the abyss of despair and depression.
The only thing that has allowed him to keep his sanity was the belief that
not all was dark/bad. That there is a GOD and that he has a plan for him.
If you read his poetry you'll see much of it has to do with the darker
side of life. Randall seems to empathize with others and can imagine himself
in their circumstances. Randall believes that this helps him to be good
at his job, but placing himself continually in others positions can be
consuming. This is Randall's prayer, this is his hope, and with God's will
he can continue to do his work.

Hope and Pray
My Lord, I hope and pray,
The world be not as it seems.
That not all is deception and hurt,
Meanness and cruelty not the norm.
My Lord, I pray for this,
For each day I lose a little hope,
When I see the dark and angry side
That my fellow man so often shows.
My Lord, I hope and pray,
For a little kindness now and then,
A soft and gentle touch be felt,
To chase away these thoughts.
My Lord, I pray for this,
For I fear that I’ll be one,
Who only sees the dark side,
And not the sunny side of life.
