A
TRIBUTE TO MY DAD
Dear
Dad,
You
were a great dad, I know that is true,
I
feel warm all over when I think of you.
You
taught me so much by word and by deed,
And
you always were there when I had a need.
I
remember you bought me a new bike so fine,
But
for some foolish reason it no longer is mine.
You
see I traded it for an old bike and some cash,
Thinking
about it now almost gives me a rash.
Mom
thought you'd be angry and treat me real bad,
But
we should have known you weren't that type of dad.
I'm
sure you knew I was sorry by the look on my face,
And
what you said relieved me and lessened
my
disgrace.
You
told me it was OK, that the bike was my own,
I
couldn't have loved you more if you'd been a king on
a
throne.
It
was a childish decision that I stupidly made,
But
instead of condemning you came to my aid.
I
have a Heavenly Father who's a lot like you,
He
doesn't condemn me and He's forgiving too.
When
I do something stupid He comes to my aid,
And
shows me I'm foolish for being afraid.
I
know it was God who made you a fair, loving dad,
And
you brought Him glory and made His heart glad.
It's
easy to trust God because I could trust you,
And
I knew that the best thing was what you would do.
