A Poem For My Dad

As I sit here and wonder how you are? How all this madness came to be? How could this be so many years, so many tears and still I feel the need to hear your voice. Do you ever think about me?

Or the grandchildren you have, that you ignored so eaisly. Does anyone ever bring up my name? When you here it, does it still fill you with shame? Or do you regret all the years that have passed, without one word to me?

Do you ever wonder what I look like now? Do you remeber how close we used to be? Until I let you down and lived my own life, that left you hating me? Was what I did so wrong?

To love a man of another race, or was it the baby I had at 16teen that brought you such disgrace? Do you remeber telling me a Daughter you have no more? When you left mom's house I wept on the kitchen floor, And your words still live in me , I wear them like and open sore, that will never heal.

I have made many mistakes that is true, but Ive lived and learned from each one, have you? For almost 16 teen years I have lived without my dad in my life, and beleive it or not it cuts like a knife. People have told me just get on with your life he will never forgive you so give up the fight, but in my heart that is broken in two lives all the memories and love for you still.... And as Fathers Day approaches I have looked at my life without you. So even though I cant tell you beacause you don't want to hear from me, " Happy Fathers Day" , Dad Forever and Eternally Your daughter Darlene
