first grandchild asleep in my arms
with
her Daddy's face and a smile that charms,
memories
surface from long ago
of
him sleeping in my arms, rocking to and fro
as
I whispered to him what I want you to know.
I'll
love you forever, my baby you'll be
til
the moon and the stars fall into the sea
you'll
always be perfect in my loving eyes
I'll
do anything for you til the day that I die.
As
I look in your eyes, it's the past that I see
generations
of women as strong as can be.
Life's
valuable lessons I learned at their knee
one
day my sweet baby, you'll learn them from me.
Deep
in your essense, my Grandmothers shine
one
was tiny and feisty, the other stately, refined.
Their
hearts were brave, their life was hard
Now
they're angels who light and guard.
I
see my Mother with her heart of pure gold
taken
from me before growing old,
But
she gave me her love, taught me to care,
be
accepting of others, always be fair.
Then
there is me, Grandmommy J
so
happy to greet you on your birth day.
While
Daddy held Mommy, I held you
and
circling the room, three GrandAngels flew.
You've
stolen my heart, you're in my soul
you
fill me up, you make me whole
on
the day you were born, I needed a lift
so
God gave me YOU, His most special gift.
I'll
