Kanchi Ekambara nathar temple is situated in center of the city, Very biggest and Ancient stone temple. This temple is also a sculpture gallery.This temple covering nine hectares. Its 59-meter-high gopuram and massive outer stone wall were constructed in 1509 by King Krishna Devaraya of the Vijayanagar Empire, though construction was originally started by the Pallavas and the temple was later extended by the Cholas, 1000 pillar Mandapam is one of the wonderous place in this temple.

Sakkiya Nayanar, Thirukurippu Thondar, Chanakkyar, Parimelazhagar, Poikai Azhwar, Shiyama Shastri, also lived in this city.Thirunavukkarasar, Sambandhar, Sundarar Sung this god of Sri Ekambaranathar. The nayanmar Sundarar pray this lord siva and get his left eye. Panguni Urchavam which occurs in the Tamil month of Punguni(April) is one of the greatest festival seasons here.
