NOVEMBER 14th, 2001: UNPRECEDENTED EXECUTIVE ORDERS SIGNED BY GEORGE BUSH MANDATE TRIALS BY UNFAIR 'MILITARY COMMISSIONS' OF ACCUSED NON- CITIZENS:
PERMIT DEATH SENTENCE BY MAJORITY VOTE OF MILITARY OFFICERS

On November 13th, 2001, President George Bush signed an Executive Military Order illegally suspending a number of critical constitutional guarantees for non-citizens resident in the United States, and - incredibly - for non-citizens residing abroad as well. In the wake of September 11th's tragedy, gone are assurances that Americans have always taken for granted: guarantees of a free and fair public trial, of representation by competent counsel, of attorney-client confidentiality, of appeals against errors and misinterpretations of law and of having one's case heard before an impartial tribunal.

If you are an alien living now in America, you may as well be living in 1960's Brazil, 1970's Chile or Argentina, 1980's Guatemala or South Africa. You have no protection against abuses of governmental power apart from the assumed goodwill of George Bush, Donald Rumsfeld and John Ashcroft.

If you are a citizen living now in the United States, you have witnessed an unprecedented attack on the most basic of civil liberties and individual freedoms. You are being asked to accept that attack unquestioningly and to accede willingly to this eorsion of rights, all in the spirit of patriotic unity.

Communicate wth your leaders in government, your Senators and Representatives, and let them know that the actions of the Bush regime are an unacceptable response to the difficulties this time presents for all Americans.
