Rear

Suspension is modified for a sportier feel and handling. The M3 has reinforced plate springs and stub axles at the front. Dampers and anti-roll bars are firmer and the axle geometry is modified. The rear has larger wheel bearings from the 850Ci, harder rubber mounts and reinforced longitudinal control arms to counter the greater driving forces being generated. Final drive has a shorter ratio and a limited slip differential with a 25% locking action is fitted as standard. To cope with the greater torque output, drive shafts and flanges are reinforced to a similar specification as used on the 850Ci Coupe.
