| This is the Euro Spec E36 BMW M3 SMG Coupe This particular vehicle is fitted with the optional 6Sp SMG unit.It has the S50 B32 engine standard (built from 1995 to 2000), developing 236 Kw at 7400 rpm and 350 Nm of torque.. More on the Sequential M Gearbox The Euro Spec. M3 engine is a hand-built engine which has Double-VANOS, 6 single throttles (one individual throttle body per cylinder) and has the characteristics of a racing engine: * High engine speed red line almost at 8000 rpm, * High specific power output of over 74Kw/litre The single throttles are a typical feature of all M-engines from the late Seventies M1 to the all new E39 M5 8-cylinder. They all had/have single throttles. The Euro Spec. M3 is only available with a 6-speed manual or from 1996, a sequential gearbox (called "SMG"), which either works like a manual gear-box (with a computer controlled clutch) or as a automatic transmission which is similar to that of the Ferrari F1 style. In 1995 the 3.2 Litre Euro M3 also got the 1994 M5 3.8 high performance brakes with compound discs, which made it one of the best braking cars on the German market The most amazing car I have ever had the privilege to drive. I have owned and raced V8's but this car is just awesome; acceleration, speed and handling, even in standard form, it is phenomenal.... |
