Against All Odds
Chapter Seven:
Four months later.
Friday night, Tracy, Dave,Jeremy and I were were seated on a
booth at Genui's. It was four months now, since, Jeremy and I
were 'officially' a couple. Jeremy invited the gang, so, we could
celebrate the event. Thank God the place was not jam-packed with
people at that time.
For 4 months,
Jeremy stayed true as he had promised that day on the hallway. I
know I like him but, still, my heart longs for Dave. But I don't
have to look at him now, coz Dave already got someone. That
someone was my best friend, Tracy. They were 'officially' a
couple, too. As what Tracy, declared, we'll be having a double
date and this was it. They were going out for quite some time
now, I guess it's been 1 1/2 months now. I know coz I keep a
diary, where all I wrote my deepest feelings for him.
"Let's have a toast,"Jeremy raised his glass of soda.
"To us, Lizy. For our four months time together. I hope
we'll stay true to each other forever."
Tracy looked at me. "Wow, wasn't that something? I'll have
this toast, for us,too,Dave! Cheers!"Dave and I looked at
each other. Then, I looked away. We tonked our glasses and we
took a sip.
"Wow, that's great!" Jeremy handed his glass down.
Then, we looked at each other and he kissed me. Tracy did the
same, he kissed Dave. But Dave & I only looked at each other.
Then, I concentrated on Jeremy, I closed my eyes and kissed him
back. Jeremy touched my cheeks. I smiled. It's not fair if
Jeremy's loving me and I can't do the same to him. Dave also
kissed Tracy back... but only for a short time.
"Well, Lizy, I'm happy for us," Jeremy exclaimed after
our exhilarating kiss.
"Me,too," I smiled weakly.
"I'm so happy for us, too, Dave," Tracy told him.
"Yeah," Dave smiled. My heart skipped a beat.
I can still
linger with that smile. I nudged off the thought. It's not
fair for Jeremy.
Then, Jeremy stood up. "I'll be back in a moment."
"Ok," I smiled at him sweetly.
Jeremy went to the jukebox nearby. He dropped some coins and
played a song.
How can I just let you walk away ,
Just let me leave without a trace,
When I stand here taking every breath,
With you, ooh...
You're the only one, who really knew me at all...
Against All Odds. That was our song. Dave & I's.
"Oh, Lizy, wasn't that your favorite song?" Tracy
exclaimed.
"Yeah," I told her weakly. Dave & I looked at each
other. He smiled at me.I can feel there's sorrow in my eyes.
"Come on, let's dance," I could hear a voice telling
me. I looked but it was not Dave's. It was Jeremy's. Jeremy took
my hands. I smiled at him and he encircled his arms around me. He
smelled great.Jeremy closed his eyes.I closed my eyes. I
reminisced the very first time Dave danced me to this tune.
I opened my eyes and I saw Dave looking at us. Tracy asked,
"Dave, do you wanna dance?"
Dave nodded, "Sure." Then, he took Tracy's hands. He
wrapped his arms around her. How I envy her. Those arms were
supposed to be mine.
Tracy smiled. She cooed as Dave wrapped his arms around her.She
closed her eyes and feel the song. Jeremy & Tracy's backs
were on each other. So,Dave and I could only look at each other.
How sad when the one you really love could not be yours. Dave
smiled at me. I giggled a little.
Take a look at me now,
There's just an empty space...
The empty space. Dave once wanted to fill it but Jeremy took it
away from him. Jeremy looked at me and smiled. Maybe, he thought
I was giggling on him. He kissed my cheek then, he encircled us
around. I could not see Dave any longer. I encircled our path so,
I could see Dave again. But when we turned, I only saw Tracy's
face on us. Her eyes were closed but I could sense the love she
had for Dave. It was never unfair. She's truly in love with him.
I realized, it hurts so much to be with them. I can now feel that
this would be the saddest song I've ever heard in my whole life.
I totally don't know what to do. Maybe, I have to think again on
things -- more.
