2. Its craziness and
popularity
In 1841, a lady (name
unknown) advertised in a London
newspaper seeking for used stamps. She wanted to paper her bedroom with stamps.
She had a collection of about 16,000 stamps, but wanted to complete her
project. She is considered to be world’s first stamp collector. The interest
spread rapidly and everywhere men and women began hunting for used stamps of
different countries. People of all ages and profession have been enchanted by
stamps. Thus it is also called “the hobby of kids and kings”. King George V of
England, King Fuad of Egypt, Queen Marie of Rumania
and American president Franklin.D.Roosevelt were stamp collectors.
There are instances where
people are murdered for stamps!
