| APPLICATION PROCESS APPLICATIONS FOR THE FRESHMAN CLASS OF 2009 WILL BE ACCEPTED BETWEEN JANUARY 1 AND FEBRUARY 20, 2009. APPLICATIONS MUST BE POSTMARKED NO LATER THAN FEBRUARY 20, 2009. (LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE FILED IN THE ORDER RECEIVED. IF OPENINGS REMAIN, APPLICANTS WILL BE CONSIDERED IN THAT ORDER.) Pre-IB application packets can be printed off this website, obtained from your middle school guidance counselor, Murphy High School freshman guidance counselor or from the Murphy High School IB Office (221-3187). Selection for participation in the Pre-International Baccalaureate Program is done on a competitive basis and admission will be limited to 80 qualified students. There are some prerequisites/ requirements for participation: 1. Have at least a 3.0 (B) grade point average the first semester of the eighth grade. 2. Have scored in the 90th percentile overall on the Stanford Achievement Test or an equivalent test. If student has scored less than the 90th percentile on either the English or Mathematics portion of the examination, student may be admitted on a probationary basis. 3. Have completed Algebra I; 4. Have five current teachers (one each from English, History, Math and Science and one elective) fill out a recommendation form; 5. And, preferably have completed one year of foreign language (French, Spanish, German, Chinese).
