This is the second year this class has been running and so far, it has proven to be one of the more popular music classes that MHS has to offer!!  With a 15 student class limit, students have to register fast and adjust their schedules to be able to take it.  As soon as a spot opens, it refills just as quickly.

There is no experience required to take this class (though it helps) and everyone gets a very hands on experience by learning rudiments, basic music theory, how to read notes/rhythms, and how to be a musician first.  Students are given their own pair of sticks and the learning and grooves begin.

Grades are given based on class participation, bi-weekly group performances (trios/quartets), and written assignments.  Bi-weekly drum circles give the students an opportunity to express themselves through different instruments while learning proper technique on that instrument.  Bi-weekly music appreciation DVD presentations of live performances help broaden their horizons and inspire them to keep music alive in their lives.
