West Virginia's Delegation to Congress:
(Most of this is copied from the page for the previous Congress for now. It's possible that room assignments may change but the other information will probably be the same.)
There are 100
members of the United States Senate; each
State has two Senators, and there are 50 states. Senators' terms of
office are 6 years each, and are staggered so that one-third of the Senate
is elected every two years. The current Senate membership consists of 51
Republicans, 48 Democrats, and one independent.
The Senators from West
Virginia, both Democrats, are:
-
ROBERT C. BYRD,
311 Hart Senate Office Building, Washington, DC 20510-4801 Telephone1-202-224-6472,
fax 304-343-7144; e-mail: senator_byrd@byrd.senate.gov
Web page: www.senate.gov/~byrd
Term expires January, 2007. Senator Byrd, who is in his ninth term in the Senate, having served longer than anyone else in Senate history, is now (again) the President Pro-Tempore of the Senate (a job traditionally held by the longest-serving member of the majority party) and Chairman of the Appropriations
Committee. (I'm not yet sure of his other committee assignments for the new Congress.)
Senator Byrd has only one regional office, in Charleston (1-304-342-5855).
-
JOHN D.
ROCKEFELLER IV, 531 Hart Senate Office Bldg., Washington
D.C. 20510 Telephone 1-202-224-6472, TDD 1-202-224-6719, fax 1-202-224-7665;
e-mail:

Web page: www.senate.gov/~rockefeller
Term expires January, 2009.
"Jay" is now the Chairman of the Select
Committee on Intelligence. I have not yet looked up his other committee assignments for the 110th Congress.
Senator Rockefeller
has three regional offices, in Fairmont (1-304-367-0122), Beckley (1-202-235-9704)
and Charleston (1-304-347-5372).
There are 435 members
of the U. S. House of Representatives, apportioned according
to the population as of the last Census.
In addition, the District of Columbia and the various territories have
Delegates who are permitted to vote in some, but not all, of the House's
proceedings. All House terms are for two years and expire January, 2005.
Currently, there are 229 Republicans, 205 Democrats and one independent
in the House of Representatives.
West Virginia has 3 Representatives.
A
map of the state's three districts is at the West Virginia Secretary of
State's web site.
