The Tropicale left Carnival's fleet on February 15, 2001 to join the fleet of Costa Cruise Lines. She sailed over to Italy, where she was refurbished and renamed the CostaTropicale. Afterwards she will be sailing on Mediterranean cruises. The Tropicale joined Carnival Cruise Lines in 1982. She was the first ship actually built by Carnival (the Mardi Gras, Carnivale, and Festivale were all bought and refurbsihed by Carnival). The Tropicale started the famous fan-tail and "Fun Ship" architecture now seen on all of Carnival's ships. |
