It's You I Like
by: Fred Rogers 1971

It's you I like,
It's not the things you wear,
It's not the way you do your hair--
But it's you I like
The way you are right now,
The way down deep inside you--
Not the things that hide you,
Not your toys--
They're just beside you.

But it's you I like--
Every part of you,
Your skin, your eyes, your feelings
Whether old or new.
I hope that you'll remember
Even when you're feeling blue
That it's you I like,
It's you yourself,
It's you, it's you I like.
If I had a nickel for each time I sang this one to Stephen. (It's our favorite Mr. Rogers song) In fact, we had to sing it tonight before stephen went to bed.

Well, summer is over... but I had a blast!  I really hated to see it come to an end, but on the other hand, I've enjoyed being back at school!

I am in a new school this year!  I am a big boy now. (4th Grade!) I go to the Thompson Intermediate school! (that is next door to the Nolan Center, which was my first big school)  Mama says she can't believe that I am a big boy, she says that it seems like yesterday I was so tiny, she could hold me in one hand. (You all know that I was a preemie, weighing 3 lbs and 5 oz. when I was born.) Well, I'm a big boy now!  I went to the Dr. last week and I weigh exactly 50 lbs!

I spent so much time in the pool over the summer, I got an ear infection, and I missed a day and a half of school..  The Dr. saysthat swimming is probably not what gave me the ear infection, but my mama says it probably is. (you know, moms know best)

Anyway, I'm beginning to have a difficult time at school this year. The teachers are having a hard time keeping my attention on things long enough to complete them. Also, they've already called my mom and dad twice within 7 days to check me out. Last week, I had pinkeye (Dr. said it wasn't) and yesterday, I needed stitches in my finger. (they don't know how I cut it) But, the good news is, mommy took me to the Fire dept. and they said all I needed was a band-aid and some ointment!. But, I got out of school 5 hours early! (yay)

Till next update,

Stephen
