Pictured Below is the 2nd Battalion of the U.S. Frontier Brigade in formation.
The 7th and 30th Missouri Vols. was the 3rd Company and is directly left of the Colors.  Our good Pards of the 1st Nebraska are on our left and was 4th Company.

A False alarm, Calls the Battalion to Arms, and the Boys commence a lively fire on what they believe is an attack of the Confederate Trans Mississippi Brigade.  Captain Crofutt directs the 7th and 30th Missouri (Consolidated Company) on its part of the Battalion Line. 
It turns out that it wasnt the Rebs after all, but a local farmers Cow that had gotten loose and startled a greenhorn who was on Picket Duty.  The cow was the fights only casuality and needless to say, our dear Lieut. Col. and his staff dined well that evening.
