Andrea's comments on Ida's Homestay November 2003
Having walked a few times in front of Ida’s on the street I never imagined to walk in to check out the grounds. But while strolling on the beach, I was intrigued by its swooning palm trees.
Upon entering, it was like an oasis…or let’s say an image of what was the real Candi Dasa was several years ago before its tourist development. Several palm trees with a young cow grazing in the shade, a meditation hut facing the sea, and a few Robison Carouso (?) Balinese wooden style huts. A true adventure!
Later I found out from one of the ex-pats living in Candi Dasa, that at Ida’s is where the regular foreigners have been coming for years so to hibernate in a relaxed and serene atmosphere away from the winters back home.
There must be some interesting characters that stay there.
Beware….this is for the real adventurous type who enjoys being in touch with nature.
All huts have a front porch for leisure reading or simply doing nothing. None of the rooms have A/C, and no screens or glass are on the windows. It is also located in front of one of the nicer beaches in Candi Dasa.
I first checked out the 2-storey Hut #3. On the ground floor there is a single bed with a mosquito net, most probably needed since there are no screens on the window. The open air bathroom has a stand up shower and a back exit.
As you go up the stairs, a double size bed is facing towards the terrace facing the grounds and its many trees.
Hut #5 was under renovations, but the open bathroom was beautiful! Having no roof, the sun shined against the new tiles that had been placed and the green plants from the garden that surrounded it added a touch of color.
Prices range from 100,000 RH to 150,000
