| Andrea's Comments October 2003 I first stayed in Candi Dasa at a mid-range hotel upon my arrival. But I was desperately seeking to be in place in front of the sea where I could absorb the sun, bath and just simply relaxed. Omitting the Budget range places to stay recommended in the Lonely Planet…I decided to take a look for myself for that ideal place to stay. Seaside Cottages are conveniently located in the center of Candidasa, right in front of the sea. The owner Shirley, is an Australian who does an excellent job at making sure the place is spotless and impeccably clean. She has also done a great job at redecorating some of the Cottages. The locals are kept away from walking onto the premises and asking several times in the day if you desire snorkeling or a massage. Great for the guest’s tranquility! A bar and restaurant is provided where great music is played and an amazing Chicken Wrap is prepared along with great fruit juices. Or you may choose to have your meals served while sitting in front of the sea or on your bungalow terrace while feeling the ocean breeze. An internet café is conveniently located across the street. Late evenings, you may opt to walk near by to the Iguana Café and listen to the local band and where the Cowboys play. And if tranquility and peace is what you seek, then opt to sleep to the sounds of the ocean waves. The best Cottages at the moment are 3B, 4B, 1A and for a larger space the two room Superior Deluxe. All of these with the exception of 4B are located right in front of the sea. Permitting great views right outside your window! I have extended my stay here with the days that pass by, having found my complete Zen. Who would want to leave? There are options of tours, bike rentals in excellent shape and activities if action is what you are looking for. And just to say, one needs not to pay a mid-range hotel to find the great comfort and service that one finds at the Seaside Cottages.
