Spend It Wisely
What would I do
if I had the cash?
I would fix my teeth
and fix my hair
I would live where the waves
would crash and
I would certainly attempt
to be honest and fair
I would gamble and golf
and drive a nice car and
I would fly to places
that were warm and sunny
I would sit alone and quiet
in an old fashioned bar and
I would wink at the waitress
who would call me honey
I would re-spoil my kids
because it won’t matter and
I would even shower their mom
with untold treasure
I would seek out lost friends
of whom I could flatter and
I would make sure my enemies
were aware of my pleasure
I would invest in a way
to make sad kids smile and
I would help all the old folks
who were badly in need
I would even help rich kids
or convicts on trial and
I would make damn sure
it was done without greed
I would spend most of my time
trying to write rhyme and
I would send it off
through a wire in the wall
I would hope that my leisure
would allow me the time and
I would attempt my masterpiece
or perhaps something small
I would read or dance
as during Mozart I might doze and
I would over-tip the pizza guy
and drink cool dark beer
I would entertain models
that were anxious to pose and
I would only choose girls
in their twenty first year
I would get a smart banker
to keep my money growing and
I would consult with a thief
to interpret the math
I would avoid republicans
if the economy were slowing and
I would only attend church
if they toned down the wrath…cont

I would do just about anything
a man could desire and
I would imagine there are things
I might not try
I would appreciate the joy
which money can inspire and
I would hope I’d be prudent
In the kinds I would buy.
