Here are the modifications that I have performed so far on my Maxx's. I hope that they show enough detail so that you may perform similar mods to your maxx. At least maybe you might gain some ideas. |

Well I decided enough alkaline batteries for my T-Maxx's receiver. For Christmas I received a 6.0V Peak Racing World 1100Mah NiMH receiver pack. To physically install it into the new box, I had to remove the divider in the battery cover to accommodate the bigger size of the new pack. This required cuting and grinding the battery box, so if you attempt this, do so at your own risk. Once it was removed the pack slid right in, although a little tight. To wire it up, I decided to cut the new packs harness and solder it directly to the switch just like the old battery box. However, I also decided to solder a charging harness on the opposite side off the switch as compaired to the battery. This provides a way to charge the pack when the switch is only in the OFF position. |

After mounting the box back to the truck, I mounted the end of the harness to the side of the box with CA glue. Then to charge the pack, I took a female end of another harness with exposed ends and plug it into the mounted harness. I then can clip the charging leads from my Novak Millennium charger to the bare ends of the female harness. To protect the connector from dirt and debris, I removed the wires from another female harness, sealed the end with silicone sealant and plugged it into the charging harness when the pack is not being charged. |

After I completed the installation, I figured I could have mounted the charging plug on it's side to prevent debris from settling inside the plug but thought the "dummy" plug would seal better in the long run. In conclusion, the new receiver pack is great. The servos are snappy and noticeably faster. It lasts about 50% longer than the alkalines and I never half to buy batteries again. That's all good! |
