PROFILE:

I am a self starting Business Analyst who has written my own job description for the past 15 years. I focus on the goals set by management to support bottom line. I have extensive experience in Business Operations starting in manufacturing and moving to IT. I have moved through a variety of positions including Planner, Methods Analyst, Manufacturing/Industrial Engineer, Application Programmer, IT trainer, Business Analyst, IT Helpdesk Manager and Implementation Project Manager.

At Amdahl Corporation I started as a Planner where I helped change a push production system into a JIT pull system. The production line I planned decreased its cycle time from six weeks to one day. The only material not on the floor at the end of the JIT process was high cost cycle count controlled material.

Seeking a new challenge I moved to the engineering group as a Methods Analyst. I learned on my own to use a 3D CAD system in a few days and produced the first drawing by the end of my first week. After building up a component library from scratch I completed the initial project within the three week deadline. The deadline was fixed as the only person who knew the information being documented was retiring.

The engineering group promoted me to Manufacturing/Industrial Engineer where I was responsible for business process analysis and facilities design. I managed three major projects and in each project I would analyze the requirements, create drawings to identify the changes, get management approval, and submit the drawings to the architect. After the projects were underway I would manage any change requests in a timely fashion to minimize impacts to schedule and costs. The first project, an upgrade and move, estimated at $1.75 million completed on schedule with a final cost of $750,000. The second project was a move which completed on time with a savings of $500,000. The third project was an aggressive move from building to another in 5 months due to lease considerations. I had to take the people, processes and equipment and fit them into 1/3 to the existing space. The project completed on time and on budget with no production impact. I received a director award for each of the projects for on time completions and cost savings.

I was then asked to move to the IT groups to support the development of a Sales Automation tool meant to create a configuration for a complex product. The work completed satisfactorily and on time.

When the IT department was outsourced to Amdahl’s subsidiary DMR Consulting I moved with it to assist with the Y2K business reengineering. My task was to help identify changes to the business processes associated with the interface between the company and the customer. I created a class to identify the process flows within the application to be used so everyone would start thinking in similar terms. I then wrote classes for each of the areas affected by the changes and presented these classes to the IT department and to the users. At the same time I managed the IT Help Desk and trained the application system administrators. I assisted in defining the interfaces between the various applications which included what information was to be passed and what would happen to the information once received. My projects completed on time and I was given an additional award for my work during the Y2K crossover.

My move to AristaSoft was to make better use of my business analyst and project management skills. I assisted 5 companies through the process of bringing on new applications by supplying business process information, application testing guidance and user training classes. I managed multiple resources during various projects keeping the changes to what was contracted. I wrote and gave pre-sales presentations, wrote manuals for and trained administrations and wrote user guides and training classes. I supported the helpdesk with process and database information when needed and supplied interface information for application integration. When AristaSoft closed I felt it was a good time to take a sabbatical and help a friend through an extended illness. My desire now is to find the proper company to continue my career.
