The Forgotten Veteran
You may not remember me, very few people do,
I fought for your freedom in WWI and WWII.
I shed some blood on Pork Chop Hill,
After ten years in ‘
I am a Veteran, my heart filled with pride,
Of the country I loved and my buddies that died.
We were told we’d be taken care of if we made it home,
But in this day of budget cuts, the Vet stands alone.
It hurts to see my brothers and sisters turned back at the
door,
No one told us to go home with our country at war.
We ask for nothing but our rights and your respect,
But all we get are broken promises and politicians neglect.
They say we can save money with all these budget cuts,
Tell that to the Veteran who shed his blood and guts.
The politicians want our vote in this election year,
Remember the Veterans who live with doubt, and fears.
