Their Best
They served their country, they gave their
all;
No matter the handicap, they all stand tall.
Whether it be a
prosthetic, a wheel chair or loss of sight;
They have gathered their courage, gathered
their might.
From across the country they join to compete,
Once warriors in
service, new friends now to meet.
No matter the outcome, all deserve the gold,
Forever young at
heart, no matter how old.
A finer test to spirit one could never give.
A strong will to win, a greater will to live.
Wanting to hear the roar, the cheers of the
crowd,
Even more important to
make their loved ones proud.
They had to face reality, to overcome their
fears;
Survival didn’t come easy, it took many years.
Modern gladiators,
with a special message to send.
I am honored to call these men and women my
friends.
