Getting
It Together
Like
me you will be frightened as you walk on the floor;
Your
stomach will tighten as they close the door.
They
will show you your room; it will seem like a cell.
As
you say goodbye to your family you will want to yell.
You
won’t understand it now but you’re not alone;
In
time you’ll feel better, than you can go home.
The
doctor and nurses they really do care;
This
is the first sign that life can be fair.
The
first night is the longest, it will seem to never end;
Sleep
will eventually come, a thankful friend.
You
are not alone, there will be others;
No
matter their problems, you are still all brothers.
Feel
free to sit, feel free to walk;
Feel
free to be quiet, feel free to talk.
In
time your emotions will not feel so numb;
You
will look forward to the morning to come.
There is no button to push that relieves the pain;
You
have nothing to lose, everything to gain.
You
won’t be perfect, no one can be;
Today
I’m looking forward to just being me.
