Welcome Home
Hey
man it’s been a hell of a long time,
I
haven’t seen you since I tripped that mine.
They
got me out real fast; I was hurt pretty bad,
It’s
a bitch that we always remember the sad.
Every
once in a while one of the old gang will make it by,
Some
look, others talk and a few just cry.
Sooner
or later I’ll see them all,
Like
you my friend they answered the call.
As
you look toward me I see your tears,
You
have held the hurt inside for all these years.
We
just did our job; there was no need for shame,
So
let it go there is no need for blame.
We
were not all heroes, we did our part,
We
served our country with all our heart.
We
fought a war we weren’t allowed to win,
Our
treatment back home was truly a sin.
I’ll
always be here; I’ve no reason to leave,
So
go on with your life, no longer grieve.
One
by one we will welcome you all home.
From
our eternal existence in this black marbled stone.
