HO Scale Model

When I re-entered the hobby I started with HO as I still had some old track and other bits and pieces from my younger days.

For a number of years I have tried to keep some sort of a running layout together but for one reason and another they don't last long before being dismantled to make way for something else.

Until recently they have never had anything resembling scenery. I found this picture of an early attempt, it was in the garage and basically too big for my time and budget. Needless to say this too has been dismantled.

For a short time I tried to get the trains in the house by using a modular system but unfortunately other demands for space resulted in their removal.

I had at times considered changing to N Scale as it required less space but could not bring myself to discard all the HO gear. So I began the N Scale layout and kept the HO one as well.

The HO gear is now in a small garden shed. With any luck this will survive as there is no room left to try and store anything else. No photos yet.

At this point I should describe the location and era of the model, however I would have to make something up first. It would probably go along the lines of a modern tourist railway operating from an otherwise disused country station on the mainline somewhere. The operators have a very generous benefactor which allows them to purchase and restore locomotives and rolling stock from all over the country. This imaginary world is perfect and problems such as different gauges are totally irrelevant.

There has not been a lot of progress with the HO model due to time being spent on the N Scale model (much more comfortable working in the house).
