NAHL NEWS Thanks to Charlotte for being the host city for the All Star game. The Cougars put on a great show for the fans of the NAHL. i would have to say that the Cougars have set a high standard for the future All Star games. A great time was had by all the Golf tourney was a total enjoyment for the players and the sponsors.Our very best and thanks go out to the Charlotte Cougars ...... League in the process of setting totals on Expansion draft protected list The NAHL is getting ready for there expansion draft the total number of players to be protected by the team is still in discussion.. The four expansion teams will have a total of eight players they can pick from the 8 teams of the NAHL.The question we have at the league office is how many players are set up for the expansion teams to pick from.. The present number is 2 goalies and 2 complete lines will be protected by there present team with the remaining players set as available to the expansion team as picks No team will lose more than 4 players from there roster under the draft............But these numbers and rules could change stay tuned Thanks to Charlotte for being the host city for the All Star game. Hughes Gervais of the Detroit Mustangs (Detroit Speed Farm Team) was voted the games MVP. Viktor Kozlov and Martin Gelinas were also given stars of the game..Robert Luongo of the Tampa Bay Titans farm system allowed just one goal on 10 shots to be the Souths top goalie,Artrus Irbe of Detroit stopped all 4 shot he had in a very slow night for a goalie.The North came on strong at the begining with a 4-0 1st period but the south came back and made it a game untill the end when the north won in OT.6-5 New Olreans Franchise NAHL coming down to the end of its very first season.. Detroit seems to have the North all but raped up clinching the palyoff some 8 games ago.The New England Destroyers have a step above the Toronto Mapleleafs.The once division leaders New York Edge have seemed to put there selves out of the playoffs. Its seems to late to make that last run for a playoff spot. but stranger things have happened...In the South the Charlotte Cougars made a bold statement against the league and mostly against the Northern division. since there outburst the Cougars have gone 2-4 against the so called northern Division., Yet the Cougars have held on to the final playoffs spot in the South. The Memphis Dragons have built a 6 point lead on the Cougars and the Miami Breakers are just 6 points out of the playoffs with Tampa Bay just 7 points out of the playoffs spot. The Southern Division has been so close this season that nobody could pick a leader we may end up waiting till the last game of the season to have a divison winner.My advice is to watch close cause things are getting crazy....
