At about the age of 20,he was injured ina bicycle-car accident which left him with a twisted spine and an invalid.He was well known in the Woodlawn area of Birmingham because he laid in front of the window of thier house at 966 North 52nd Place.Many people came to see him. Someone gave him a talking parrot to keep him company. The bird had been taught to curse like a sailor from a previous owner. One day some nuns came to visit Cutie.The parrot did not like them so he cursed them. The nuns left in a hurry. Cutie's spine was so severly twisted that his head almost touched his spine. Someone could give him a dollar bill and even though he could not see it,he was able to tell the denomonation. He had an excellent memory for numbers. There was a board to be placed across Cutie and held down by two people when Cutie had seizures. He would crawl to the bathroom.Someone would help him on the commode and rest his head on the water tank. He also loved canned green peas.
