| The M.G.M.S meeting was called to order on January 12th 2008 at 1pm. at the Leoni Twp. Hall. A few of our members & officers were absent due to the passing of one of our members, Ron Roberts. Your family is in our prayers; you will be missed. Thank you to all of the M.G.M.S. members who attended the showing. We had 26 members present as well as 4 guest today: Scott and Susan Lovell & Calvin and Gloria Town. Welcome! Officer’s reports President: On Vacation Vice President: Mitch Bowman read the minutes from the 12-21-07 Executive Board meeting. The last Board of Directors meeting the Directors were going over the budget and in cleaning up the matter of 2/3 majority rules that vote that is 2/3 of the officer’s have to be present to be a quorum. It was also agreed that a new budget would be done by January 31st 2008 our next Board meeting is scheduled for January 25th at 2pm at the Leoni Township Hall. Secretary’s Report: Mike Hoover made a motion to accept Secretary’s report as posted in December’s M.G.N. Thurman Estep seconded. Minutes were approved allowing the corrections needed. Secretary’s Correspondence Report: Past Secretary Jeanne B. reported that President Jerry Morris had called and that he had reserved meeting dates at the Leoni Twp. Hall for the full 2008 year. Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer Sue Estep gave the January 2008 balance for checking, savings and petty cash. Standing Committees Report: Sunshine Report: Prayers are asked to go out for Carol Kent who was in a bad accident in August ’07, breaking her neck (She has no income coming in!) and Mary Carrier who is studying for her Board exam. Our prayers are with you. Show Report: Jim Bretes, Show Chairman will have a volunteer’s chart on who signed up for helping with the advertising with the March show. He said he’d have that ready by the next meeting. He has also contacted the caterers for the show and only one has called him back. He is still working on that. Bob and Linda Moorehead have requested about 180 flyers that they have volunteered to mail out Thank you to Bob and Linda! Jeanne Bowman then brought up the issue of printing the flyers for the show in either black & white or color. It was voted on a 10-4 vote in favor of printing the flyers in color for the March show 2008. The flyers will be in color. Jeanne has also made Family passes for Jim Bretes. Thank you Jeanne. Bev Baldwin wanted corrections on the table issue for the show. Bev and her mother, Ernestine are purposing to rent one table that, any club member interested, may sell their items from. A percentage of their profits will go to the club. This way nothing will be allowed to be sold from the demonstration tables. Those interested contact Bev Baldwin with any further questions. Thank you Bev. Great idea! Liaison: Lenore Semposki announced that the flowers from M.G.M.S. were sent to the funeral home for Ron Roberts. Lenore was unsure what we had budgeted for this and was informed that $60.00 was set aside incase of death and $25.00 for sickness. Raffle: Betty did receive the license for the raffle from the State of Michigan. It was mentioned that the raffle tickets will be printed by next week. Jeanne Bowman also mentioned to those new members present that the silent auction money goes towards the scholarship awards. Scholarship applicants are accepted from High School Seniors in Jackson County. Scholarships: Mike Hoover mentions that we have one application so far. Fieldtrips: An Arkansas trip is being planned for spring break: March 30th- April 6th we need to know who is going so reservations can be made! Contact Mike Hoover. Crystals and possibly Diamonds will be found!!! Also Jim Bretes is planning a Mother of all fieldtrips in 2009 to Montana so save now you’ll not want to miss that trip!!! Unfinished Business Vice-Pres. Mitch Bowman states that we need to correct M.G.M.S’ paperwork and how it reads to the State of Michigan. Jeanne B. states that we need to send the State a copy of our bi-laws to get this corrected. This matter will be attended to. Jeanne then mentions to the club that if anyone needs club faxes sent that her and Mitch have a fax. Thank you Mitch & Jeanne. Be patient with all of us new officers! Taking over the call list did not work so well this time but it is an idea that we need to put into place. Thank you for your patience. Jeanne Bowman: Editor mentioned that after the March show we will have a new membership list ready for the newsletter in April. It is a joint effort between the Secretary & Treasurer to compile the new information. Be patient we are working all of this out for the club in 2008. New Business Sue Estep, Treasurer asked about the 990 form because she wants to be sure it’s taken care of by the May 15th 2008 deadline. Lori Tsutsui (2007 Treasurer) states she’ll help Sue with that. Beading Babes: met on January 11th 2008 at Bev and Ernestine’s. It went great! Some were frustrated but it was a good time! We encourage anyone to come and have some fun! The next Beading Babes will be on Feb. 7th at 11:00 am at the Baldwin’s’ home. Bring a sack lunch. The sale is January 26-27th 2008 at 206 Ballard St. in Ypsilanti, Michigan. These folks collected for a long time so this collection is going to be something to see if nothing else!!! There will also be sealed bids for the more valued items. Thank you to Diane for bringing this to our attention. A fun fact: What was another name for the Greenstone?-Chlorastrolite and a few of our members knew that like Bob Moorehead, Diane Good & Hazel Morgan! We’re so proud!!! Some of these stones will be at the sale that Diane mentioned a very sauté after stone. Our Guests Scott & Susan Lovell and Calvin & Gloria Town did become new members on January 12th 2008!! Welcome!
