As part of my final year Bachelors Degree in Electronic Engineering, I was given the project of designing an image processing tutorial package using MATLABŪ and the Image ProcessingToolbox. The project aim was to develop an interactive tutorial package on image processing, including different image processing techniques and several different methods for each, in order to give the user a good overall insight into Image Processing. It was not to be only easy to use but also informative, including explanatory text of how the images are manipulated by image processing functions.

MATLABŪ was the chosen as the programming language platform for the project due to the availability of an impressive image processing toolbox being an extensively powerful application used in many of the final year projects this year. MATLABŪ also allows the development of Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs), which would provide the backbone of the packages appearance.

This toolbox provides a complete suite of digital image processing and analysis tools for MATLABŪ . Utilize the broad set of algorithms provided or modify them to develop customized tools to solve unique image processing problems. The Image Processing Toolbox extends the MATLABŪ computing environment to provide functions and interactive tools for enhancing and analyzing digital images and developing image processing algorithms. In addition, the image processing tutorial package facilitates the learning and teaching of image processing techniques in both academic and research settings.

The  functions for the Image Processing Tutorial Package are implemented in the open MATLABŪ language, letting you explore and customize existing toolbox algorithms or develop your own and implement these on the GUI framework already developed. .
