"I ask for your prayers for all those who grieve, for the children
whose worlds have been shattered, for all whose sense of safety and
security has been threatened. And I pray they will be comforted by a
power greater than any of us spoken through the ages in Psalm 23: 'Even

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14) Everyone has questions . . . people everywhere are wondering what's ahead for us in the United States. I wonder if our future doesn't have something to do with today's scripture! The answer lies in our response to what happened on Tuesday. Will this nation turn from its wicked ways, humble itslef, seek His face, and pray? Can we, as a nation, find ourselves on our face before God with a yearning deep down inside to live our lives sanctified and set apart for the Master's use! Can this nation rise above the base lusts of the flesh and conduct our lives in a fashion that is pleasing and acceptable in the eyes of God. After all, that's what He's commanded us to do! Leviticus 20:7 says, "Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God." But, what does "sanctify yourselves" really mean . . . One commentator says, "We must cleanse ourselves from all the pollutions of sin, consecrate ourselves to the service and honour of God, and conform ourselves in every thing to his holy will and image: this is to sanctify ourselves." We are to keep ourselves from sin . . . make decisions, think before we act, weigh our choices and then make that choice that is right according to the Word of God! Every temptation that comes our way brings with it a choice . . . one way will lead to destruction, the other way to abundant life. According to 1 Peter 1:15-16, we are called to be holy in all manner of conversation. All of our fellowship and interaction with others MUST have its basis in holiness. Anything less will rob the testimony that God is building on the earth today! So, righteousness exalts . . . sin is a reproach. If a nation stands for righteousness, God will exalt it. However, if the nation's choice is sin, it will be a reproach in the nostrils of a holy God and bear the consequences! The same principle holds true in our personal lives . . . righteousness exalts us (makes us pleasing in His sight), yet sin in our lives if a reproach to Him for He cannot look upon sin! No one needs to tell us how this applies to the events of the past few days . . . we all know what is necessary. The harvest in this country is ripe . . . our lives must point to righteousness in all we say and do. The world is watching us now more than ever before! Set the example, point them to the Only Way, and make a difference in this sin-sick nation . . . let your light so shine before men, brighter than ever! Father, my heart continues to break on behalf of those whose lives are personally touched by this tragedy, yet I have an assurance in my heart that You are in control and will use this situation to show Your purposes and will to this nation. Father, that I might be a light shining brilliantly in the darkness, help me to live a life sanctified unto You! Help me to consider my choices in all I do, then act on the right choice as a way of bringing glory to Your Name! Lord, teach me Your ways through Your Word! Be a shield all around me, O Lord, around my family and my loved ones. Father, I just want to declare once again that I trust You with my life, with my family, with everything that pertains to my life. Father I trust You to lead our leaders . . . guide President Bush and his cabinet in making decisions which are Your decisions. Father, cleanse us, O Lord, from our unrighteousness, once again. Lord, I love You, thank You for Your presence and direction! Where would we be without You, Lord? Jan Ross
The events of the week have been heart-wrenching and troubling. Indeed, "May we truly be humble before God". My family and I join you and all "Fishermen" during this most extraordinary period in the history of the United States.

The Seventh Day Bapitist´s people in Brazil was very sad and we lamented a lot for the last events. We would like to say that are praying for all you, so that our God can comfort its hearts. The Bible tells us that " God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble ". (Psalm 46:1) That He can demonstrate His presence in its lives, comforting and consoling all you at this time so difficult. Our prayer is that: " The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace." God Blesses you!
Dear SDB church friends, Sitting here in the quiet Midwest, I cannot imagine living through the horror of this morning's devastation in New York City and the Pentagon. Please encourage all of your church members to pray for those affected; to pray for the continuing rescue attempts; to pray for wisdom and direction in how to respond. If you are in a local church situation, gathering for united prayer may work a miracle out of this tragedy. If we hear of any reports from our church members affected, we will pass them along. May the Lord shine on us in our time of need.

Here is a prayer from today's Faith and Values network: Compassionate and Loving God, We confess our fear and anger in this time of terror. We look for solace and hope. We acknowledge the fear that destroys community and trust. We are angry at the ruthless disregard for the sanctity of life. We are shocked by the hatred that stands behind despicable acts of terrorism and destruction. We confess these human feelings as your communities of faithful believers. In the midst of our attempts to understand all of these acts we come to you for solace. Keep us in your loving arms. Remind us constantly of your healing hope and all-encompassing love. Receive the souls of those who have been taken from us. Comfort with your healing touch the loved ones who mourn. Stay the hands of those who seek violence. Lead us in the ways of justice toward the promise of peace. Amen. Many years ago I heard these encouraging words: "I don't know what the future holds, but I do know Who holds the future." September 11th left us with many questions, fears, and doubts about our future. Let us take comfort in the truth that the future is not so much ours as it is God's. Scott Hausrath

We have been praying ever since we heard of the very sad situation
about
which you have written us, and we are sure that your Most High God
will not
allow you to fall, he will be with us, He will not allow us to be
frightened
by what is happening. I am confident of what His Word says, "The
Lord will
not leave us [all] alone". This is His promise and His promise is
FAITHFUL,
it is TRUE, and it is LIFE.
As the deer pants for the water brooks, So my soul pants for Thee, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God; When shall I come and appear before God? My tears have been my food day and night, While they say to me all day long, "Where is your God?" These things I remember, and I pour out my soul within me. For I used to go along with the throng and lead them in procession to the house of God. With the voice of joy and thanksgiving, a multitude keeping festival. Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him For the help of His presence. O my God, my soul is in despair within me; Therefore I remember Thee from the land of the Jordan. And the peaks of Hermon, from Mount Mizar. Deep calls to deep at the sound of Thy waterfalls; All Thy breakers and Thy waves have rolled over me. The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime; And His song will be with me in the night, A prayer to the God of my life. I will say to God my rock, "Why hast Thou forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?" As a shatttering of my bones, my adversaries revile me, While they say to me all day long, "Where is your God?" Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance, and my God.
