The Midwest Thunder car club was originaly formed back in the 90's with a group of guys that had some really nice vehicles. Well over a year or so the nice cars turned into full blown show cars & trucks, and full blown stereo competition vehicles. We didnt have all the same makes of vehicles, we had a nice variety of diffrent vehicles that we competed with. That is how we came up with the saying "Sound, Style, & Speed" it just fit us as a group so well. So we decided to form a club and go from there.

The first Midwest Thunder event took place in Flanagan,Il in August of 1993. For a first time show in a small town, we really had a good turnout that day. The second event took place the following year, and it grew a bit more from the first year. As every car club has conflict of intrest between the members we did also. A few members left the club (including myself), but remained friends with everybody that was still in the club. The car club continued with new members and they put on a show in 1995. Shortly after that Midwest Thunder dispanded and everybody went their seperate ways.

Six years almost to the day, the name Midwest Thunder was brought out of retirement by one of its founding members (Myself) to host a benefit car show in Pontiac,Il. Two of the founding members (Jon Bourne & Myself) decided to do a car/truck show to help benefit cancer patients in the Pontiac area. The reason being is my mother was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer in 2001. When I went in front of the City about the event they asked me about a name of the event, and the name "Midwest Thunder" popped in my head and there it was resurected from the past.

Needless to say my mother passed away 21 days before the event was to happen. The car / truck show is a benefit for cancer patients in the area. We understand that we cannot pay for someones medical bills, but we can furnish them with money for travel to and from there Dr's visits, or chemo/radiation treatments, money for a meal out or groceries. It is just our way of helping them out in this horrific time in their lives, but also at the same time it will be a memorial in my mothers name.
So the name Midwest Thunder lives on in my mothers memory, and that will always live on with me when I think of her.
