MELBOURNE STORM
MELBOURNE STORM NEWS
18/05/2004       Ok you have to bear with me while I try and remember. We thrashed the Bunnies, Followed by the Cowboys I believe. Then we went down to the Warriors and the Sharks in that order. However on the 16/05 we played the Parramatta Eels and won 36-16. I was at the game it it was brilliant. I have some fairly fuzzy photos that I will upload into my new pics page when I get the chance. I will also add the pics from the Penrith Panthers game.
15/04/2004      The Storm went down on the 11th to the reigning premiers the Penrith Panthers. Since then Rodney Howe and Antonio Kaufasi have been dropped from the starting side to make room for the returning Alex Chan (suspension) and Ben Macdougall (Injury). This Saturday Storm play the South Sydney Rabbitohs at Olympic Park.
18/03/2004     Craig Bellamy (the coach) has signed on to continue with the Storm until at least the end of 2007. This is all despite rumours that he was being courted by the Brisbane Broncos. Craig has come out and said he is happy to stay with Storm and he hadn't heard anything from the Broncos.
17/03/2004      Robbie Ross has retired due to a bulging disc in his back. This is a recurring injury for Robbie, it stopped him from playing most of last season. Matt Orford has been selected to play on Sunday vs the Knights. It all depends on whether his Inner Ear Infection is cleared up by then as to whether or not he will play.
ABOUT THE TEAM
In 1998 Melbourne Storm entered the National Rugby League and the following year they won the premiership. Since entering the League 7 years ago they have rarely been outside of the top eight.

Just last year they ended the season ranked fifth. This year is our year to regain the premiership and prove to all the doubters that we really do belong in the game.
ME AND THE STORM
Back in 1999 when the Storm won the premiership I was still at school and had no idea at all about Rugby League. If you had asked me which team I followed I would probably have looked at you stupidly and asked "Why would I follow a team?"

That was how it was until last year when I was introduced to the game by a close friend who to this day and from the very beginning when they entered the premiership has followed the Storm.

He explained to me the ups and downs of the game and why certain calls are made. He even told me why the players run backwards and forwards when defending their ground. (I mean wouldn't it be less tiring if you could just watch what was happening on the field and then make your move.)

He is, however, not the reason I follow Melbourne Storm. I looked at all the coincidences in my life and realised that alot of good things came out of 1999. I graduated high school, Weird Al Yankovic released the song "The Saga Begins" (Which is my favourite) and Melbourne Storm won the Grand final (against Mum's St George Dragons as well which I think is hilarious). So that's how I decided.

I have been to one of their games so far (it was vs the Bulldogs and we got thrashed), but this year (seeing as I'm in Sydney and their home ground is Olympic Park, Melbourne) I'm going to as many of their away games as I can!!
