History
Migration began in 1998 when Tony Youn, a guitar player for the last 10 years, contacted Ed "Duke" Eddington about starting a Caribbean-themed band.  Ed was himself a guitar player and singer for the past 15 years.  He had just recently returned from a tour down south where he wowed audiences with his guitarwork and vocals.  Ed had been also looking to start a band with an emphasis on Caribbean music.  Thus, Migration was born.  Tony and Ed developed a setlist of about an hour of Jimmy Buffett songs, ranging from the obscure (Brahma Fear) to the overplayed (Margaritaville).  Their first chance at performing was at the Mid-Winter Meltdown, a huge party in the Walker Arena Annex in Muskegon, Michigan, in the early winter of 2000.  Migration performed as an opening band for the local favorites "Living Soul" with their special guest, the legendary Greg "Fingers" Taylor (Jimmy Buffett's harmonica player and right hand man for the past 25 years).  They were well-received by an appreciative crowd.  Since then, Migration has become veterans at performing live, playing dozens of gigs on the West Michigan lakeshore and Grand Rapids, Michigan areas.  They have performed at several local parties, on the decks of local bars in the summer, and inside bars and cafes in the fall and winter.  Migration added the accomplished conga/percussion player Scott Ross (see band bio section) full-time throughout their first year.  After performing exclusively Caribbean-themed songs for the first several gigs with great crowd responses, Ed and Tony decided to add other popular artists' songs into their repetoire.  They now can play two types of shows, 3-4 hours of all Jimmy Buffett-related material (including his most obscure songs), and 3-4 hours of other popular songs by bands such as the Barenaked Ladies, Tom Petty, Dave Matthews Band, Grateful Dead, and many others.   Migration finished cutting their first CD in early 2001.  Since then they have focused on Caribbean / Jimmy Buffett themed shows in the summer and popular hit music in the winters.  Migration continued to play shows throughout the Great Lakes region, from Grand Rapids to Milwaukee to Springfield until the summer of 2003, when they disbanded.  Tony moved off to L.A. to pursue a career in plastic surgery, while Ed remained in the West Michigan area and began working on material for a solo show.  Contact Ed at ed@internethut.com for bookings on his solo show.
