The Clan Farquharson was one of the last powerful clans to come upon the
cultural scene before the crushing of the historical clans at the Battle of
Culloden on April 16, 1746. The Clan was a part of the huge Clann Chattan
confederation of clans. However the Clan Farquharson became so distant
from the other members of the Clan Chattan confederation that they would often act alone, or with clans outside of the confideration that were closer in location.
