From the South Bend Tribune. June 2003
The word "Studebaker" is still plainly visible in the aerial photo of the Bendix Woods County Park area taken in 1963.  The trees, planted in 1938, have since grown to between 75 and 80 feet tall and their tops are growing together, obscuring the detail that once existed.

Hwy 2 runs along the bottom of this photo. I placed a large X where the Studebaker car "graveyard" is located.  It is no longer possible to get into it.

Several years ago over 200 of the trees were damaged from a storm.  The trees are getting close to their natural lifespan of 80 years.

In 1955 my dad and I went out and sat across from one of the small test tracks and saw our first glimpse of the new '55 Studebakers as they sailed by on a test drive.
