MEGEVE  Ski  Lessons  Ski   With  MIKE  Your American  English Speaking  Ski  Instructor
There are three places in the  Megeve Ski Area that I use as meeting places for our clients.

1- Rochebrune, at the entrance to the Chairlift called "Petit Rochebrune".

2- The top of the "Chamois Gondola-Telecabine" (just as you get out and walk into the waiting area)  that comes from the center of town.

3- Lastly, at the top of "Super Megeve" where the "Caboche Gondola" and  Rochebrune Telepherique gets you to the sumit of Rochebrune.

Please note that I always have my mobile with me and should you be delayed do not hesitate in contacting me, at :

There are no marked signs, simply stated it is difficult to obtain an "Offical" meeting place for Independent Instructors to officaly have without being a Twelve person Ski School....  so we do not have a "Megeve Mike" meets here sign or banner. Other meeting points can be prearranged jointly.

When your lessons are confirmed, I will suggest where the meeting place will be and you should confirm this with me (by email:
MikeSkiFrance@yahoo.com or Mobile: 00 33 (0) 6 81 61 06 15 a week prior  to your arrival in Megeve or at the latest the day befor the lessons start.

In the future and to help with this, we will put photos of each  meeting place on this web site.

Some Ski Tips:
Always check the piste information boards before starting out. They contain information on piste closures due to excessive snow or not enough of it. It is also a good idea to check the closing time for lifts so you can be sure to be able to ski all the way back. These are posted clearly when you get on.
The French Alps has a comprehensive signposting system to protect the safety of the people. Take note however that: variations may exist throughout France and Europe!
Orange/Red or other colour poles indicate the limit of the left hand side of the run.
Green/Blue or other colour poles indicate the limit of the right hand side of the run.
Yellow and black striped poles note all types of danger.
"Croisement-ralentir" signpost means intersection -- slow down.
If you see netting prohibiting access or a roped off area, don't go there! This indicates a competition, piste grooming machines, a bare patch or unsafe terrain.
A closed piste will also mean that it is not patrolled or swept at the end of the day.
Poles and ropes indicate a dangerous edge.
"Zone hors-piste" signpost notes that the slopes are not marked or patrolled.
"SOS" flag denotes emergency post or telephone.

A checkered yellow and black flag means danger.
A black flag is telling you to take care, general danger.
Beacons indicate the name of the run, its difficulty and your distance from the bottom of the slope.

You should consider buying Insurance with your lift pass to cover injuries incurred while participating in sporting activities in the mountains. This is called a "Carte De Neige". It is very inexpensive (not much more than 3 Euros per day) and I recommend it, make sure you purchase it at the same time as your pass !

This coverage includes:
Search and Rescue costs.
Medical Costs.
Reimbursement for unused portion of lift passes and unused lessons.
