These pages have two main sections: The equipment part and the photo part. The photo part contains some of my photos. The equipment pages contain three parts, one for a specific camera model, Minolta XE, another that contains information about macro photography equipment that is available for Minolta manual focusing cameras, and third about tele lenses available for manual focusing Minolta. I've also added a few subjective lens evaluations and other information about Minolta lenses. There are also some links.
Why did I set up these pages?
Basically I just wanted to know what it takes to make something that can be seen in the Internet. I'm not a programmer and won't become one (as you can see if you read these pages). My main hobby is photography, so it was natural to me to start building my www-site around it. I also wanted to publish some information about the equipment I use, manual focusing Minolta SLR system, specially about some old, fine models and close-up devices. Most manual focusing Minolta models are well represented in the www, so I try to avoid repeating this information. You can find that from the Minolta User Group pages, which contains most of it and also works as a link central to other information sources of Minolta photography. Soon it appearead to me that this part of my site was more interesting than the others, and I made it a lot larger than I had originally thought. People still keep on contacting me and adding information to my site, and I try to update it on the pages. Usually it takes time - this is not my nr. one hobby, it still is photography. But I really appreciate the input and hope it keeps coming. You can find my mail address at the bottom of the page.All information on these pages is without quarantee - there may have been variants I have never heard, or I may have been misunderstanding something.
Most of the photos on these pages are mine - I'll point the source or photographer if not. My main subjects are in the nature: Landscapes, close-ups and animals. I do sometimes photograph peoples and events, like weddings or public happenings. I'm a pure amateur and use mostly slide film, occasionally also color and b&w prints. Most of my photos are taken in the southern Finland where I live. Occasionally some of them are also visible at the www-pages of my photo club, Raision Kamerat ry. Some others are shown at the Minoltians web gallery.
About photos on these pagesThe equipment photos are usually taken with Olympus Camedia C 2000 digital camera. These have been edited quite heavily to make them appear better. The tele lens part contains a lot of equipment images scanned from old brochures or taken from the web - I hope the manufacturers don't mind I'm using them, if anyone does, please contact me and I'll remove the images. Some equipment photos also at the other pages are taken by other Minolta users.
My photos are taken with my SLRs - mostly with Minolta, but some also with my old Pentax or Nikon AF stuff. I have usually scanned them with HP PhotoSmart S20. I have edited them only to make them more like the original slides or prints - no cropping, sharpening or colour editing, unless noted. Of course, all of them are copyrighted by me.
