Soldiers’ barracks at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania
History
Since Pennsylvania is one of the original thirteen colonies, it is no surprise that it plays a large role in the scope of American history. But, given that Philadelphia was the place where the country was born and Gettysburg was the place where the country was reborn, Pennsylvania has a place in the American consciousness that is unrivaled by any other state. I thought that a trip to this important state wouldn’t be complete without a visit to these two major sites. I was glad to see that I hadn’t overestimated my initial feelings to these places.
