A BRIEF HISTORY

MILITARY COLLEGE JHELUM (Sara-I-Alamgir) is among the most historical and prestigious educational institutions of the country (PAKISTAN). The college was founded on 3rd March 1922, as King George Royal Indian Military School by the Prince of Wales. Regular classes began on 15th September 1925. At that time, it was organized as a residential school for the sons of Muslim soldiers with the object of producing educated rank and file for the British-Indian Army units. In 1943, the school underwent structural reforms. The college reemerged as an institution of choice for potential officers of the army. With the creation of Pakistan, the college took further strides both in scope and objectives.

In 1956, it was restructured as a quality public school and the largest-single feeder to the Pakistan Military Academy. Many of its ex-students (ex-Alamgirians), have done a competitive services at the high ranks in military as well as in the civil jobs. College has given many two and three stars and some four star generals in Pakistan Army, Air Force, and Navy. In civil setup many of the senators and foreign ambassadors are its old students. Every year about 100 students get admission get the training, and where ever they go it helps them in outside exposure. Military College is even today present at its place as it was in 1922, many students and staff members came and went away but even today it shows its glory by its own self.
