All About Mrs. Miller
Hello!  I would like to take this time to introduce myself.  My name is Dawn Miller, and I'm a Kindergarten teacher at St. Lucie Elementary.  The 2004-2005 school year will be my 10th year of teaching. I graduated in 1994 from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education.  During my fourth year of teaching at Windmill Point Elementary, I was nominated by my peers for the Teacher of the Year.  My decision to go into education was based on the fact that education is the most challenging, rewarding, and gratifying field I have ever encountered.  I sincerely enjoy having the opportunity to allow my students to grow, question, and discover their own love for learning. Although the majority of my experience in teaching has been in grades three through five, I feel Kindergarten is my true calling. There is nothing more rewarding than to see a child smile, grasp, and then give thanks after mastering a concept for the very first time!
Although teaching is a large part of my life, I also have an extremely  supportive family.  My husband, Ed and I were married in January 2000.  We have a beautiful daughter named Jenna.  We couldn't be prouder parents!  We also have two orange tabby cats named Basco, and Tigger.  When I am not working on school things, I enjoy spending all the time I can with family and friends, going to the beach, cooking, reading, stamping, and relaxing.  I want to thank you in advance for entrusting your child's first year of school with me.  I can't wait for the journey to begin!!
